As you are aware, the parish is beginning a process of phased reopening. Starting July 4, 2020, the sacraments available to the public on Saturday afternoons will include a 30 minute Mass on Welch Lawn, east of the church on the campus side, next to the Mary grotto.
We are working closely with the University and following the provided Archdiocesan guidelines. As the parish staff manages the logistics of these liturgies, we realize the need for a strong corps of volunteers. This group can help everyone stay safe through organized entry/exit and through assistance/supervision on the lawn during Mass.
We are looking for at least 25 volunteers willing to assist on Saturday afternoons. This group, to be called "COVID Shepherds," will be scheduled as follows:
10 volunteers to help set up for Mass outside, and then stay on as ushers, to ensure that attendees are following social-distancing expectations (3:30pm-5:30 pm)
Scheduling will be done through our liturgical scheduling software, MinistrySchedulerPro, and you will be assigned your time and notified of your service in the same way we notify all our Liturgical Ministers.
If you’d like to be added to this group of volunteers, you must attend a training session via Zoom, which will cover safety protocol and procedures..
While we do need many hands to help to ensure these liturgies happen in a safe and organized way, the health and safety of everyone is our first priority. PLEASE NOTE: If you are immunocompromised or in an at-risk group, please keep Livestreaming and stay out of harm's way.
People of all ages can be infected by the COVID19. Older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as obesity, asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus. (source: World Health Organization)
Thank you all so much for your ministry and flexibility as we walk together into new ways of celebrating Eucharist and living Church. Please contact me at email@example.com with any follow up.
