St. Ignatius Parish Phased Reopen Plan
St. Ignatius Parish has developed our plan for reopening for worship by following directives from the City & County of San Francisco, the State, and the Archdiocese to design the best approach for our community; you can find their resources and instructions here on our website, in the tabs on the right of this page.
To follow is our phased plan for offering public Masses at St. Ignatius Church; the first phase begins on theJune 20/21 weekend. Please note: the Sunday 10:00 a.m. livestream Mass at St. Ignatius will continue as is - it will not be a public Mass, for reasons made clear below, either in Phase I or PhaseII. We deeply value the virtual faith community that the Holy Spirit is forming through this new medium. As always, please be in touch with questions or concerns, at 415-422-2188 and firstname.lastname@example.org.
· Those in at-risk groups (over 60, underlying health conditions, etc.) should not attend public Masses
· The Archdiocese has issued guidelines for parishes that are in keeping with those of the State of California, including:
-- Attendees may not number more than 25% of capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer
-- Physical distancing norms remain in place and masks must be worn
-- Mass is to be kept to 30-40 minutes
-- No singing or verbal responses
-- Communion distributed at the end of Mass
· St. Ignatius Parish will introduce public Masses in phases
-- Phase I: begins Saturday, June 20
§ One public, outdoor weekend Mass, held on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., beginning Saturday, June 20
§ As parishioner safety and health remain our top priority, Mass will be celebrated outside on USF’s Welch Field, the campus lawn just east of St. Ignatius Church
§ Parishioners will be asked to bring their own chairs or blankets
-- Phase II: by the weekend of July 11-12
§ As the State of California reviews its open-church policy after three weeks, so will St. Ignatius Parish reevaluate after three weeks to determine what our Phase II protocols shall be
Again, we invite you to be in touch with questions or concerns about this process, at 415-422-2188 and email@example.com. Thank you, and may God bless you.
