Parish Council update
The Parish Council works closely with Fr. Greg to provide a common direction and focus for the Parish as a whole. Members have typically been involved in various ministries in the Parish and served for a year or more on one of the Parish Commissions. The Council meets quarterly for strategic meetings and holds brief “stand-up” meetings at the end of each Parish Leadership Night. The current members, serving a two-year term, and the Commissions they represent are: Terry Potente (Worship), Christine Kennedy and Mary Burns (Outreach), Larry Simi (Formation), Bill Walsh and Jackie Longust (Community), and Andy Paolucci (Administration).
Recently, the Parish Council held its quarterly strategic meeting at Loyola House and reviewed a number of strategic topics, including the Parish Annual Report, the 2017-2018 budget, and how to advance the annual nominations and selections process for new Commission members and co-chairs. The Council agreed to hold a planning discussion in their December meeting to develop guidelines for the Parish Ministry Fair, held annually in April, after which potential new leaders can be nominated for Commission roles.
The Council also set a goal for all Commissions to establish a more clearly defined “linking” process with all committees and ministries within their oversight, so that regular updates from all Parish groups can be available to inform our Leadership Night discussions. It was also agreed that a Parish-wide “re-registration” drive will take place in the coming months, to update information about existing parishioners, register new ones in our database, and to capture new information desired by the Commissions to better align Parish programs and service opportunities to the needs and interests of our community.
