Novena for the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Monday, July 23 to Tuesday, July 31

As we anticipate the Feast of St. Ignatius, patron saint of our parish, please join us in praying a Novena along with other members of our community. This Novena (meaning nine, for nine days) will begin on Monday, July 23, and conclude on Tuesday, July 31.

St. Ignatius' Suscipe ("Suscipe" is the Latin word for "receive") is a common practice of prayer in these days leading up to his feast:

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will, all that I have and possess.

You have given all to me.

To You, O Lord, I return it.

All is Yours, dispose of it wholly according to Your will.

Give me Your love and Your grace, for this is sufficient for me.

St. Ignatius instructs the retreatant to pray this prayer at the end of the Exercises, during “Contemplation for Attaining Love,” a noble call on all our lives as disciples of Jesus.
