Dear Sisters and Brothers –
St. Ignatius Parish is abundantly blessed in so many ways. Among our many blessings are our vibrant and vital ministries. On our website you can find ways to join fellow parishioners in outreach to the poor and homeless, parish-wide events, faith formation opportunities for parishioners at all stages of life, our many liturgical ministries and more. We are blessed by the compassion and creativity of so many people who give of themselves. Their tremendous efforts have made St. Ignatius one of the most vibrant parishes in San Francisco, and they would welcome all who would like to join.
The reality, however, is that without financial support from our parishioners these ministries and the day-to-day operations of St. Ignatius would not be possible. I am deeply grateful to the many of you who generously responded to our Parish Giving Appeal (PGA) last fall. You are helping us to achieve our very bold goals and enabling us to imagine how we can do more to meet the spiritual and faith needs of our community and the help meet temporal needs of some of our less fortunate sisters and brothers.
To meet our financial goals we need the participation of everyone who makes St. Ignatius Parish their spiritual home. If you haven’t yet made a gift or a pledge, I ask that you join other parishioners and share the financial responsibility for supporting our parish ministries. No gift is too small, though, I hope you will prioritize St. Ignatius in your charitable giving. Please contact Fran Quinn van Bergen can help facilitate taking your pledge or gift. This week, the Archdiocese of San Francisco launched its Archdiocesan Annual Appeal (AAA). This is an annual drive in every parish in San Francisco to raise money for the important ministries of the Archdiocese that benefit both parishes (including St. Ignatius) and ministries particular to the Archdiocese. Some of these include the offices of Worship, Religious Education & Youth Ministry, and Marriage and Family Life; prison ministry; the Tribunal; and the permanent Diaconate.
Each parish is asked to do their part based on their ability. Our assessment is one of the single largest annual expenses for our parish; this year it is $219,000. This adds to the need for everyone to join in our annual giving program. In addition, if you are moved to giving to the AAA campaign, you can do that directly though our on-line giving on our web-site or by linking to SFArch.org/AAA
In the coming weeks, we will be following up with those who have yet to make a gift or pledge. You may be receiving an email, a letter or a phone call with the invitation to do your part so that that we can continue to do the work that God has given us to do. I thank you in advance.
May God bless you and all that you carry in your heart – and St. Ignatius Parish.
Oremus pro invicem.
