What you will bring to St. Ignatius:
‍

You will have a role within our team responsible for a comprehensive parish religious education program for children, teens, adults and seniors, including sacramental preparation programs and youth ministry, striving to meet the objectives and policies of the ADSF Religious Education Office and the goals of a Jesuit Parish. This role will work with the Formation Commission and ministry volunteers, recruit, train and supervises volunteers and in classroom catechists, program curricula and is a Parish resource in catechetical methods and theology.

What you will do:
‍

1. Develop goals, objectives and implements strategies for a comprehensive Faith Formation program, including sacramental preparation, that support a lifelong relationship with Jesus and a deepening of the Catholic faith for all parishioners, consistent with Archdiocesan guidelines and our Ignatian charism.

2. With the pastor, the Formation Commission and related committees, develop and implement a coherent and unified curriculum and catechetical plan for the Parish.

3. Recruit, train and supervise catechists, youth leaders and other volunteers.

4. Facilitate parent orientation sessions; opportunities for listening to parent feedback. Coordinate Confirmation preparation and rehearsals.

5. Promote public relations within and beyond the Parish community, including communicating and collaborating with parishioners and parents of youth in the Faith Formation programs.

6. Direct the coordination and administration of a CFF program including but not limited to:

-creating and supervising a core program leadership group, including USF students

-developing leadership skills programs for Parish youth

-developing a network of opportunities for social justice outreach for youth

-establishes times for listening, advising, and referral

-plans, coordinates, and implements retreats and prayer experiences

-provides opportunities for social justice outreach to the broader San Francisco community

-assists in the preparation of liturgical celebrations for youth

7. Maintain professional growth through continuing education and training; reading; participation in Archdiocesan, regional, and national conferences; and peer contacts

What you have:
‍

• Practicing Catholic with a degree in theology, pastoral studies, religious education or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).

• Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and beliefs as presented in the documents of Vatican Council II, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and other relevant Church and Catechetical Documents.

• Must have updated knowledge of educational and Catechetical trends and practices.

• Knowledge of the RCIA/RCIC process and the thorough understanding of the RCIA/RCIC text.

• Ability to assess needs and use results to develop catechetical processes.

• Leadership and teambuilding abilities to direct religious education and Sacramental preparation programs.

• Possess excellent planning, project management, organizational and collaborative skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.

• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Required Skills and Experience
‍

To be successful in this role, these levels of experience and skills are required:

Formation Skills

• Formation experience in a parish or diocesan position. Related degrees and comparable experience will be considered.

• Worked in a leadership capacity with teenagers in a parish setting; demonstrable work with adult volunteers; a commitment to continuing professional education and formation.

Parish Administration

• Advanced knowledge of parish operations and potential for optimizing through the use of database management tools

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

• Previous experience at a church or non‐profit

Competencies

• Organization Skills
