Dear Sisters and Brothers –
September?! Already?! It’s hard to believe that summer is–for most of us, anyway–in the rear-view mirror.
We have a busy month here at SIP and I’d like to get a few things on your calendar. First, is September 16. Our former pastor, Fr. Charlie Gagan, celebrated his golden jubilee last June, 50 years a priest. Fr. Charlie will preside and preach at our 9:30 Mass on the 16th, and we will fete him at hospitality after Mass. I hope you can join us.
The following Sunday, September 23, is our annual Town Hall at which we present the parish goals and priorities for the year, along with an update of our finances. That will be after the 9:30 Mass. If you’re unable to be there, the presentation will be posted on our website afterwards.
Finally, September 30 is our annual Parish Picnic. As usual, we will combine our 9:30 and 11:00 o’clock Masses and gather at 10:00 am. The picnic will follow this combined Mass.
As the rhythm of the summer months gives way to the rhythm of autumn, I hope that you’re able to find time in your busyness to look back over the summer from this perspective and enjoy once more the graces given. Some questions that help me are: What am I most grateful for? Why am I grateful for those moments, events, people? What about my summer gave God delight, and why is that so? Finally, how are these gifts meant to be shared?
Let’s continue to pray for one another, for our parish and for the whole Body of Christ.
Blessings,
Fr. Greg
