Save the Date for the Women's Retreat

Saturday, October 26, 8:30 am-1:00 pm
Del Santo Reading Room
Lone Mountain Campus, USF

Lisa Fullam, D.V.M., Th.D. teaches moral theology at the Jesuit School of Theology, and will present, Holy Desire: Ours and God's.

Deep in Ignatian spirituality is the conviction that our deepest desires always lead us to God. In this half-day retreat, we'll explore desire in spiritual life (with a little musical help from Melissa Etheridge!) We'll trace the path of desire in Ignatius of Loyola's life, focusing on how his own journey shaped his spirituality. We'll discuss how God is working with us in our desires as well, and how our own spiritualities are shaped by and reflected in our responses to the holy desires God evokes in women’s spirits.

Lisa Fullam D.V.M., Th.D. teaches moral theology at the Jesuit School of Theology. Research interests include Virtue Ethics, medical and sexual ethics, and Ignatian spirituality. Essays include: “Toward a Virtue Ethics of Marriage: Augustine and Aquinas on Friendship in Marriage,” “Joan of Arc, Holy Resistance, and Conscience Formation in the Face of Social Sin,” “Sex in 3-D. A Telos for a Virtue Ethics of Sexuality,” “Why Ordination Matters: A Reflection from Jamaica,” and “Juana, SJ: The History (and Future?) of Women in the Society of Jesus.” She is the author of The Virtue of Humility: A Thomistic Apologetic, and has co-edited with Charles E. Curran three volumes in the Paulist Press series Readings in Moral Theology. A few years back, she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. The view from the top is just glorious.
