Non-profit organizations around San Francisco serve low-income seniors and disabled adults. One of their services is to gather and direct food supplies targeted for the needs of these folks, who find themselves more isolated than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To help fill this gap, the Shelter Meal Program will be collecting the following items for delivery to these two groups who will get them to those in need:
• cans of tuna or chicken
• dried or canned fruit
• Nutrition shakes
(e.g. Orgain, Ensure, Vega)
Collections will take place the fourth Sunday of each month. Please look for collection tables and volunteers collecting goods after the Sunday morning mass between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., at tables located on the Parker Street side of the church. To sign up to assist at the collection tables or make deliveries to Mission Neighborhood Center, please go to the Shelter Meal Sign-up schedule.
Please note, we will be periodically updating the list of food items based on reported needs. Also, during the rainy season, we may announce other locations for drop-off. Please visit the Shelter Meal program page, which will be regularly updated with information about this project. For questions, please free to contact our Shelter Meal team leaders through the website.
