Children's Faith Formation at St. Ignatius Parish is a 1st through 8th grade program that focuses on forming students to develop a personal relationship with God, an emerging sense of authentic self, and an orientation toward service with a heart for justice through Ignatian pedagogy in keeping with the Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus, namely, the call to accompany the young in the creation of a hope-filled future. Our program includes preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. St. Ignatius Parish also offers the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults adapted for Children for youngsters who have reached the age of reason (typically 7) and not been baptized, or older children who have not yet made their First Communion. All participants in our Children's Faith Formation program must be registered parishioners. Please contact Lisa Freese for information on these programs.
Core Principles:
Children's Faith Formation classes meet most Sundays between September and May. Grades 1-6 meet Sunday mornings from 11:15 am to 12:00 pm. Confirmation preparation classes for Years One and Two meet on Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 7:15 pm. Confirmation classes for both years include attendance at the 5:00 pm Mass on Sunday. During the 2022-2023 year, families may expect a combination of in-person and Zoom classes. Classes do not meet on holiday weekends or during Christmas and Easter break.
Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is a ministry which brings the message of the Gospel to children and families in their own words. Children (ages Pre-K through Grade 4) meet with two adult leaders during the Liturgy of the Word at the 10 AM Mass on most Sundays. We are putting together our calendar for the 2022-2023 program year and are in need of adult volunteers to help with this program. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Freese.
