Do you have children between the ages of 6 and 17 who would like to learn more about their Catholic faith or prepare for their sacraments? If so, then Children's Faith Formation (CFF) at St. Ignatius Parish is for you! Our program focuses on forming young people to develop a personal relationship with God, an emerging sense of authentic self, and an orientation toward service. Our volunteer catechists accompany our youth during preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. We also offer the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults adapted for Children for youngsters who have reached the age of reason (typically 7) and not been baptized, as well as faith formation for older children who have not yet made their First Communion. All CFF participants must be registered parishioners. Please contact Lisa Freese for information on these programs.
Core Principles:
Children's Faith Formation classes meet most Sundays between September and May. First Communions Years One and Two and CFF Grades 3-6 meet Sunday mornings from 11:15 am to 12:00 pm. Confirmation preparation classes for Years One and Two meet on Sunday evenings, following the 5:00 pm Mass, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Confirmation classes for both years include attendance at the 5:00 pm Mass on Sunday. During the 2023-2024 year, Zoom classes may be available for families who make special arrangements with the D/FF. Classes do not meet on holiday weekends or during Christmas and Easter break.
Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is a ministry which brings the message of the Gospel to children and families in their own words. Children (ages Pre-K through Grade 4) meet with two adult leaders during the Liturgy of the Word at the 10 AM Mass on most Sundays. We are putting together our calendar for the 2023-2024 program year and are in need of adult volunteers to help with this program. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Freese.
