A Letter from the Pastor
Dear Friends:
In 2006, The Superior General of the Jesuits,
Father Peter-Hans Kolvenbach,
called a Jesuit Parish a "base of operations".
He said: "It is difficult to imagine a Jesuit parish
reduced to a well-built compound
waiting for people to come!
The spirit of openness and outreach
(of a successful Jesuit parish)
calls for an atmosphere of welcome,
encouragement, guidance, and support."

In that spirit, I want to welcome you to this web site
and assure you that same welcome is waiting for you
each time you join the St. Ignatius Community at worship.
No matter which activity you are researching
on this parish web site,
be assured that you will find encouragement,
guidance, and support.
Occasionally I am asked about our parish motto:
"In the Spirit, from the Heart, Practical".
It was the motto of the first Jesuits
as they chose the ministries of the early Society of Jesus.
"In the Spirit" means that everything we do
comes from God and returns to God;
"from the Heart" refers to our dealing primarily
with people and their real concerns;
"Practical" means practical!
Come to St. Ignatius and you will see how that is lived
both in our preaching and in our concern for one another.
I hope you enjoy this introduction
to the St. Ignatius Parish ministry.
May God Bless you,
,
Charles R. Gagan, S.J.
